In December 2025, we spent a few days in Breckenridge, Colorado, staying at the Grand Lodge on Peak 7. Snowy balcony mornings, Main Street in its holiday lights, a gondola ride, and slow evenings by the fire — here's the trip.

Main Street after dark

Breckenridge's Main Street does December well — storefronts wrapped in string lights, sports flags flying outside Molly Jack's, and a Christmas tree glowing blue at the end of the street.

Mountain views

Our balcony looked out over snowy peaks and pine forest — including one very pink sunset.

The gondola

We rode the gondola over the snow — a slow, easy way to take in the mountain.

Drinks and dinner

Slow evenings

Evenings were the hot tub under string lights, wine with a view of the slopes, and feet up by the fireplace.

Planning a ski-town getaway

Breckenridge in December is an easy long-weekend trip — mountain views from your room and plenty of slow evenings. We left our dogs home this time, but the resort is dog-friendly if yours travel with you.
